Privacy Policy
This privacy policy will explain how we use the personal data we collect from you when you use our website.
Why do we need your email address?
This is the most basic way of guarding against multiple registrations – if an email address is used more than once we discard the second registration. There will likely be some people who pledge using both work and personal emails and there’s not much we can do about it, but overall we want to ensure that the number of pledges collected is a fairly accurate account of how many people will not be drinking Heineken brand products any more. To make an impact, we must be credible and demonstrate integrity.
Why do we need your Twitter name?
This is to identify who is voting for what in competitions. In this case you can also pledge to boycott Heineken using only your Twitter name. If you do this there is no need to opt in or out of the mailing list as we will not have your email address.
Who do you share my details with?
We don’t. They are your details, not ours. That being said, if you check the box saying “add me to the mailing list” we may add your email address to a third-party email campaign manager like Mailchimp so that we can keep you up to date. We won’t trade mailing lists in order to extend our reachand we won’t give your emails to “partner companies” as we don’t have any.
Where do you store it?
On a secure cloud server somewhere in Ukraine.
What cookies do you use?
Google analytics. We need to measure the traffic on the website. We don’t advertise or sell stuff (yet) so we don’t need any other cookies. If we ever do need other cookies we will update the privacy policy accordingly.
What are cookies?
Seriously? Google it.
What are your data protection rights?
You have the all the usual rights granted by GDPR legislation. Most don’t apply as we only hold your email address, but you have these rights anyway because we’re based in the EU.
The right to access – You have the right to request copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
The right to rectification – You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request [company name] to complete information you believe is incomplete.
The right to erasure – You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to data portability – You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please email info at boycottheineken.org
Why should we trust you?
We get it – there’s no business address so it’s not like you can sue us. But Heineken does have a business address and you clearly can’t trust them. In the end it’s a judgement call – we leave that up to you.
